The machine intelligence tested in the research, which was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and first reported in the Economist , was based on a sample of more than 35, facial images that men and women publicly posted on a US dating website. The data also identified certain trends, including that gay men had narrower jaws, longer noses and larger foreheads than straight men, and that gay women had larger jaws and smaller foreheads compared to straight women. While the findings have clear limits when it comes to gender and sexuality — people of color were not included in the study, and there was no consideration of transgender or bisexual people — the implications for artificial intelligence AI are vast and alarming. More frighteningly, governments that continue to prosecute LGBT people could hypothetically use the technology to out and target populations.

Results from some new analyses as well as a selective review of the results of six empirical studies on a self-identified sample of sadomasochistically-oriented individuals 22 women and men with an emphasis on differences between gay and straight participants are presented. The gay male respondents seemed to be better educated, to hold white-collar occupations and to be more sadistically oriented. The gay male respondents became aware of their sadomasochistic preferences and had their first experiences at an older age. They showed a preference for leather outfits, anal intercourse, rimming, dildos, wrestling, special equipment and uniform scenes, and the straight male respondents for verbal humiliation, mask and blindfold, gags, rubber outfits, cane whipping, vaginal intercourse, cross dressing, and straitjackets, and different role plays except for uniform scenes. Four separate sexual themes were identified: hypermasculinity; administration and receiving of pain; physical restriction and psychological humiliation.
Lambert, who favors black eyeliner and leather pants, had told Rolling Stone that Mr. This all went down in the same interview in which Mr. But do give him credit for overcoming one of the most common deal-killers in friendships between straight and gay men: the awkward crush. For every sweeping statement one can make about such friendships, there is a real-life counter example to undermine the stereotypes. And as with all friendships, no two are exactly alike.
